Welcome to Breath for Life!

Breath for Life thanks you for taking the time to review its policies around your course registration before submitting payment. Entering your name, initials, a representative acting on your behalf and/or random letters/numbers/characters in the space provided on the Registration Form, which prompts you to read and accept the policies, confirms your acceptance of the following policies as reasonable. Based on the acceptance of these policies and your registration payment, you have now entered into a contract with Breath for Life and the policies outlined will serve as a template to achieve a win/win resolution. Please note: the following policies apply to your reserved seat based on your registration payment (cost of the course) for the date and time which you selected and does not apply to a future date unless guided by policy.

Breath for Life is bound to be fair and transparent, based on governing body oversight, and will apply these policies with impartially and equality

Please note: Breath for Life reserves the right to change these policies without informing the registrant of a change and the most current policy change will be applied to any dispute or challenge.
1 Punctuality Being on time for your course is mandatory. This policy is in place so that registrants regard being on time as a high priority. Late arrivals disrupt course delivery and based on governing body oversight 100% attendance is mandatory for certificates to be issued. If you arrive late for your scheduled course, regardless of reason, and you are not permitted entry into the building the instructors will not interrupt their class to advise you that you will not be permitted into the course you registered into. By arriving late, your lateness will be regarded as a ‘no show’. No refund/credit or accommodations will be permitted based on punctuality challenges. If you wish to reschedule into another course, you will be required to reserve your seat at the registration cost of that course. Breath for Life’s responsibility is to start the course on time, as per the registrant’s expectations and deliver an uninterrupted course to those who arrived on time. The expectation is that participants take this policy seriously and arrive before their course starts. Breath for Life opens its doors to the public 1/2 hour prior to the course start time; please arrive early and take advantage of prime parking.
2 Contact Breath for Life can be reached by emailing breathforlifeinc@shaw.ca. Priority will be given to emails. Any and all correspondence, regardless of reason or need, must be in writing. Breath for Life’s commitment is to respond to your email within the same business day:
  • If you correspond after business hours, a response will be returned within the next business day. Breath for Life will not answer its phone during intake prior to a course, during sanitization of the facility (this occurs multiple times throughout the day), while in a classroom, when in meetings and most importantly when corresponding to a  customer who contacts the office by email;
  • If you contact Breath for Life, about your need to cancel, reschedule or postpone your course after business hours, your request will default to the next business day and policies will apply accordingly.

Attendance
(no show)

Your registration payment (cost of the course) reserves a seat for you, specific to the date and time of your course. If you do not attend (no-show) your course on the day(s) of your course, for whatever reason, no refunds, credits or accommodations will be considered: this applies to informing Breath for Life of your absence on the day of the course and to arriving late for your course.
Note: For the Standard First Aid Full Blended course, your course begins on the 1st day of this two day course.
4

Full Course

When a course is marked “Full” on the website, this means ratio and classroom capacities have been reached. Based on this designation, your reservation is Final Sale, regardless of when you registered into the course, and no refund/credit or accommodations will be considered based on cancellation, reschedule or postponement requests regardless of reason. This applies regardless of when you registered into a course and the designation of “Full” was applied to a course. Breath for Life will not reverse the “Full” status of a course for any reason.
5 5 Business Days Notice Final Sale status is given to your reserved course 5 business days prior to the course start date – this represents the period during which module access instructions are emailed to registrant, for which the Canadian Red Cross assigns modules to your Red Cross account (see below), to access the Modules. As an upfront payment is issued to the Canadian Red Cross for modules to be assigned to your account, any accommodation requests around refunds/credits, cancelations, reschedules or postponements will not be considered as modules cannot be reversed or transferred to another date. If the registrant makes the claim that module access instructions were not received, or Canadian Red Cross Modules could not be accessed, final sale status still applies. If you register for your course within this time period (within the week prior to the course start date) your registration payment is final sale and no refunds or credits will be issued to you if you require to cancel, reschedule, postpone or no-show, regardless of reason. This applies regardless of whether a course is marked “Full” or not on the website, whether you completed the modules or not, and whether module access instructions were received or not based on the timeline of your registration.
Please note: You may attend the in-class skills session and complete the modules in a timely manner (one week maximum) thereafter if required.
6 10 Business Days Notice If you register into the blended course 10 business days prior to the 5 business day window outlined above, and require to cancel, reschedule, or postpone you will be charged an administration fee set at $50.00 + tax to vacate your seat or reserve a future seat. This also applies if you register for your course within this time period and decide to vacate your reserved seat within this time period. Please note: If module access instructions have been emailed to the registrant, which means modules have been assigned to the registrant by the Canadian Red Cross, a cancellation or reschedule will not be allowed as your reservation is final sale and no refunds/credits will be considered:  modules are not transferrable to another date and cannot be reversed when assigned to your name. However:
  1. If you request to cancel your course, and module access instructions have not been emailed to the registrant, a refund minus the administration fee will apply. The balance of your payment will be refunded to you based on the payment method used and no other method will be considered. You will receive an email when you have been refunded with a revised receipt.
  2. If you request to reschedule your course within this timeframe, and have not received modules access instructions, your payment will be applied to a future date plus the administration fee will be charged to reserve a future seat.  A payment link will be emailed to you reflecting the administration fee charge applied to your reschedule. This must be paid within 24 hours and a course date must be specified on the payment link form reflecting your choice of a date that falls within 30 days of your original registration (dates are found on the website and must be referred to when rescheduling). If payment is not received within 24 hours your reschedule request will be denied and a refund/credit will not be considered.
7 Reschedule If you request to reschedule your course prior to the 10 business day window, outlined above, no charge will be applied to reschedule; only one reschedule will be permitted based on your registration.
Please note: a request to reschedule will not be honored if modules access instructions have been emailed to you – when modules have been assigned to you they cannot be transferred to another date. Refunds/credits will not be considered when module access instructions have been emailed out and the Canadian Red Cross has assigned modules to your account.
8 Refunds Requests to cancel your course outside of the 10 business day window will be honored and a refund minus a 25% processing fee of your overall payment will be refunded. This charge is non-negotiable. Merchants pay fees for every transaction that occurs (registration and cancellation fees) and Breath for Life will not absorb these fees if you cancel your registration. The balance of your payment will be refunded to you based on the payment method used and no other method will be considered. You will receive an email when you have been refunded with a revised receipt. Please note: If module access instructions have been emailed, based on the registrant’s request to receive the modules earlier than the 5 business day window outlined above, no refund will be issued and no credit will be applied – your reservation is final sale.
9 Late Notifications If you inform Breath for Life of your inability to attend a course after your course has started (no-show) or after the course completion date, regardless of reason, no refunds or credits will be issued.
10 Substitutions If you are able to transfer and surrender your course registration to someone else and this falls outside of the 5 business day window for which module access instructions have not yet been emailed to the registrant please email the office the name, email and course details around this transference and your registration will be transferred to that person. By surrendering your reserved seat to someone else you accept the loss of a refund/credit. An email will be sent confirming the transfer to both parties involved. This transfer is final sale. When the transfer has occurred, if that person requires to cancel, reschedule or postpone no refunds or credits will be considered.
Please note: when module access instructions have been emailed to the registrant the course is regarded as final sale and a transfer of the registrant’s modules to another person is not permitted by the Canadian Red Cross.
11 Stat Holidays or Holiday Weekends

If you register into a holiday weekend your reserved seat is Final Sale and any consideration to cancel, reschedule or postpone your course will result in a loss of your registration fees: no refund/credits will be considered.

12 Module Access

Breath for Life will email instructions to the registrant on how to access the Canadian Red Cross modules within 5 business days of the course start date. If you register within the week of the course start date, which means up to and including the course start date, module access instructions will be emailed within the day that the registration was received by the office, or the next day if the registration is received after office hours. If this is too short a time to complete the modules before the course, the Red Cross modules may be completed after the in-class session (up to a maximum of a week).

  • It is the registrant’s responsibility to inform Breath for Life if problems are encountered when accessing the Canadian Red Cross modules. The access instructions are very specific and must be followed carefully so that problems are not experienced. Canadian Red Cross emails often end up in junk folders and it is important to check this folder before contacting Breath for Life.
  • The email that you provided to Breath for Life when you registered into the blended course defines the credentials around which a Canadian Red Cross account will be created (or accessed if you have a previous account) for the registrant. Canadian Red Cross module access is defined by this email. This email is not to be changed as it defines your account. If this email is changed when an account is accessed, Breath for Life may not be able to help you regain access to your account as you have changed the credentials of your account. You will be referred to the Canadian Red Cross to resolve this situation. This represents the greatest problem experienced by Red Cross account holders. Again, do not change your email when you have entered your account to access your modules.
  • If problems are encountered when accessing your account or modules, Breath for Life is your first contact to help achieve resolution. If Breath for Life cannot help you, Breath for Life will either refer you to, or contact, the Canadian Red Cross on your behalf. The registrant must email a clear description of the problem encountered (screen shots are very helpful). Contacting the Red Cross directly is discouraged as they will most likely redirect you back to Breath for Life.
  • Please note that module access is not based on a link; instructions are emailed to you from the Breath for Life office. Modules are found in the created Red Cross account under My Profile – My Online Courses.
12 Module Completion Ideally, module completion should be achieved prior to your in-class skills session. However, if this is unachievable you have up to one week after the completion of the in-class skills session to finish the modules. You must email breathforlifeinc@shaw.ca to inform the office of your completion. The Canadian Red Cross will be notified of your course completion and the Canadian Red Cross subsequently issues a certificate to your email and your Red Cross account (My Profile: My Certifications).
13 Incomplete Course If you do not complete your course within the one week window after the in-class skills session is completed (or decide to leave your in-class session), regardless of reason, no refunds/credits will be considered. If you require a certificate, you will be required to reserve a future seat at the registration cost of that course. The Canadian Red Cross locks a course down within a short time after the in-class session is delivered which means the Canadian Red Cross will not allow the registrant to be certified. If this occurs there is no recourse for the registrant to reverse the actions of the Canadian Red Cross and no refund/credit will be considered.
14 Footwear To keep the school safe and clean for everyone, shoes worn outside must be removed at the door. Breath for Life takes pride in delivering your course in a facility that is cleaned to a very high standard. Stating that you changed your shoes in your vehicle and then walking across the parking lot prior to entry will not be accepted as the Breath for Life facility is cleaner than the parking lot. Please bring slippers, clean indoor footwear or at a minimum wear socks.
15 Materials Items Purchased materials are final sale. You must request your purchased material at the course. If you leave purchased course material behind it will be your responsibility to arrange a pick up time. Any refund requests around forgotten material will be denied. Alternately, you may make arrangements to pick up your material or request shipment of your material at the set rate of $35.00+tax by emailing: breathforlifeinc@shaw.ca
Items left behind will be held in lost and found for no more than 2 weeks. If email  communication around the item is not received within this time frame, Breath for Life will either discard the item or donate it.
16 Respect Breath for Life will not tolerate behavior, words and/or gestures which conveys rudeness, hostility, anger to its staff or other participants within a course (this may take the form of bullying, anger, aggression, swearing, racial slurs, unkind words, manipulative language, etc). This will result in an immediate dismissal from your course without a refund or credit. The expectation of respect also applies to email communication: emails that are accusatory, pressured, unkind, manipulative and/or lack diplomacy will not be responded to. Please communicate politely and respectfully.
Respect of Facilities: behaviors that would suggest disrespect of Breath for Life’s facility, property, equipment, etc will not be tolerated. As courses are offered to the public, the Breath for Life facility, property and equipment must be maintained to a high standard and any disrespect could mean your dismissal from your course without a refund/credit or accommodation.
17 Unforeseen Circumstances By accepting the policies,  and then issuing payment to register into this course,  means that the registrant regards the policies as reasonable and will abide by them if life circumstances change.
If life circumstances change, for which you require an accommodation to cancel, reschedule or postpone your course requesting a refund or a credit the terms of the policies will be applied. Your registration applies to a single date and time only, and not to a future date unless supported by policy.
Life circumstances fall outside of everyone’s control. The terms of the contract which were accepted when the registrant entered their name into the space provided in the registration form, prompting you to read the policies and accept the terms and conditions, may seem unreasonable and unacceptable when life circumstances change. By agreeing to the policies and issuing your payment, the terms of the contract will apply and the policies will be followed to ensure that everyone is treated equally.
In that the public expects Breath for Life to deliver the course that was paid for, regardless of any unforeseen circumstance that affects Breath for Life, Breath for Life expects that the registrant(s) attend their reserved course regardless of unforeseen circumstances. Should the registrant not attend their course, or are required to vacate their reserved seat, based on circumstances that are regarded as outside of their control or unforeseen, (examples include: inclement weather, car troubles, public transportation issues, work related scheduling conflicts, too busy, forgetting about your course, your alarm did not go off, babysitter challenges, illness or injury, road or train inconveniences, appointment conflicts or any other circumstance for which it is believed that an accommodation is deserved) policies will be followed.
18 Certificates Upon successful completion of your course, Breath for Life advises The Canadian Red Cross of course completion. The Canadian Red Cross issues certificates directly to the registrant’s email and to the registrant’s Red Cross account which is defined by the email that you provided to Breath for Life when you registered into your course. Breath for Life does not issue certificates and it is the responsibility of the registrant to access their certificate and if required to show proof of certification to an employer. Breath for Life will not be contacting the Canadian Red Cross to retrieve certificates on behalf of the registrant.
  • The Canadian Red Cross gives training partners up to 10 business days to submit the course roster. Breath for Life submits the course roster to the Canadian Red Cross in a timely manner – usually within 1 business day of course completion.  On the rare occasion, it may take up to 72 hours for the Canadian Red Cross to populate your certificate to your account (My Profile: My Certifications) and email.
19 Certificate Expiry Based on governing body requirements, Breath for Life will not honor expired certificates. Please ensure that your course selection is correct and that if you are taking a recert/renewal course that your card is not expired. It is the responsibility of the certificate holder to know when a certificate will expire. You must bring your certificate to your course (hard copy or electronically). If your certificate is expired you will be required to take a full course at full cost unless Breath for Life can accommodate you on the same day of your course: a course cost difference will be charged accordingly.
If a reschedule of your course is required and your certificate will expire within the time frame of your reschedule (the 30 day time limit to take your course when a reschedule is granted), you will be required to reserve a future seat at the registration cost of the course: modules cannot be transferred to a future date.
  • Breath for Life subcontracts a service provider to remind certificate holders of their upcoming certificate expiry.  This service is a courtesy service and Breath for Life will not be held responsible if you did not receive this reminder. It is the responsibility of the certificate holder to know the expiry date of their certificate.
20 Incorrect Course Selection If you selected an incorrect course and it is realized on the day of your course, Breath for Life will try to accommodate a change in your course within the same time period as your registration: any cost difference will be charged accordingly and no refunds will be issued if the cost paid is greater than the course required. As modules are non-transferrable from one course to the next, you will be charged the issue cost of the modules specific to your course requirements. If Breath for Life cannot accommodate a transfer into the required course on the day(s) of your course, and a reschedule into a future course is required, no refunds/credits will be considered and the registration cost to reserve a future seat will be at the cost of the course: no refunds or credits will be considered.  If Breath for Life cannot accommodate you within the period of your registration and you decide to cancel based on this, no refund/credit will be considered. If Breath for Life is able to accommodate you within the period that you registered and you decide to leave the course no refund/credit will be issued. Breath for Life will not issue refunds/credits for an incorrect course registration.
