Welcome to Breath for Life!

Breath for Life thanks you for taking the time to review its policies around your course registration before submitting payment. It is your responsibility to read and understand the terms and conditions of your registration. When you are prompted to enter your name, in the space provided in the Registration Form, agreeing to the terms and conditions of your registration, you are entering into a contract with Breath for Life. Whether you register into a course independently or someone else registers you into a course an agreement of the terms and conditions will govern decision making should changes occur to your registration and attendance. Breath for Life is bound to be fair and transparent, based on governing body oversight, and will apply these policies with impartially and equality. Outlined are the terms and conditions of your registration:

Please note: Breath for Life reserves the right to update these policies without informing the registrant and the most current policy edit will be applied to any dispute or challenge.

*** *** The most important of all priorities is that you complete your modules prior to the in-class skills-development session. If you have started, or completed the Red Cross modules, you will not be allowed into your course. This is an Red Cross stipulation based on OH&S governance (refer to point 6 below).
1 Punctuality Being on time for your course is mandatory and it is expected that you arrive on time. Late arrivals disrupt course delivery and based on governing body oversight 100% of course attendance is mandatory for certificates to be issued. If you arrive after the door is locked, for which you exceeded the time-frame around what would be regarded as reasonably late, access to the course you paid for will be denied and you will be regarded as a ‘no show’. No refund/credit, reschedule or accommodations will be considered based on a late arrival. The expectation is that participants arrive before their course starts. Breath for Life opens its doors to the public 1/2 hour prior to the course start time; please arrive early and take advantage of prime parking.
2 Contact Breath for Life can be reached by emailing breathforlifeinc@shaw.ca. Priority will be given to emails. Any and all correspondence, regardless of reason or need, must be in writing. Breath for Life’s commitment is to respond to your email within the same business day:
  • If you correspond after business hours, a response will be returned within the next business day. Breath for Life will not answer its phone during registrant intake prior to a course, during sanitization of the facility (this occurs multiple times throughout the day), while in a classroom, when in meetings and most importantly when corresponding to a customer who contacts the office by email;
  • If you contact Breath for Life by email, about your need to cancel, reschedule or postpone your course after business hours, your request will default to the next business day and policies will apply accordingly.
  • Should you decide to leave a message at 780-434-1368 the message provides clear email instructions.

Attendance
(no show)

Your registration payment (cost of the course) reserves a seat for you, specific to the date and time of the course you chose. This is a one-time opportunity to attend your course and your registration does not reserve another session for you unless supported by policy. If you do not attend (no-show) your course on the day(s) of your course, for whatever reason, no refunds, credits or accommodations will be considered: this applies to informing Breath for Life of your absence on the day of the course, after the course and to arriving late for your course.

Final Sale Status

Final Sale status is given to your registered course:

  1. When a course is marked ‘Full’ on the website.
  2. When the Canadian Red Cross modules have been issued. As the Canadian Red Cross charges an upfront fee to all companies when  modules are issued, your registration is final sale. Modules are sent out within the week of your course start date.
  3. Any registration that is received within 3 business days prior to your course date. This allows us to plan and prepare based on your commitment to attend the course. Business days does not include evenings after 4pm, weekends and/or holidays. If you require to cancel your course during this period or no-show on the day of your course, for any reason, there will be no consideration of a refund, credit or reschedule. This applies regardless of whether a course is marked as ‘Full’ or not on the website. This also applies if you register into a course during the final sale window.
  4. When you register into a course held on a holiday or holiday weekend.
  5. Purchased materials are final sale and will not be refunded.

Final Sale means that Breath for Life Inc has no obligations to issue refunds, credits or provide accommodations during this period of time.

5 Cancellations and Reschedules

As per Point 4, if you request to cancel, reschedule or postpone your registration, due to unforeseen circumstances, within the final sale window of the course no refunds, credits or accommodations will be honored.

Given this the following applies whether a course has been marked as ‘full’ or not on the website.

  1. If you request to cancel after modules have been issued no refunds, credits or accomodations will be honored.
  2. If you request to cancel your registration within 10 business days prior to the week when modules are issued, a refund minus an administration fee set at $50.00 plus tax, will be charged.
  3. If you request to cancel your registration outside of (prior to) the 10 business day period outlined in point 2, a refund minus a processing fee of 30% will be charged. Breath for Life Inc will not absorb merchant fees for a cancelled course.
  4. If you request to reschedule your course within the 10 business days, prior to the issuance of modules, an administration fee set at $50.00 plus tax, will be charged. Only one reschedule will be permitted: no other requests to reschedule will be honored and your registration is considered final sale.
  5. If you request to reschedule your course outside of (prior to) the 10 business day period, and no modules have been issued, one reschedule will be granted for FREE. Only one reschedule will be permitted: no other requests to reschedule will be honored and your registration is considered final sale.  Any course rescheduled to a future date must be completed within 30 days.
  6. If you selected this course in error, Breath for Life Inc will do its best to accommodate you. If modules have been issued, no accommodations will be allowed. If a reschedule is required, one reschedule only will be permitted. Any further changes or reschedules will be regarded as final sale. If the request is for a course of higher value, a course cost difference will be charged.
6 Module Completion
  • Breath for Life sends out a preliminary email directing students that Red Cross Modules will be issued to you within the week (within 7 days) of your course start date.  When modules have been issued, your course registration is final sale.
  • Should you register within the week (within 7 days) of course commencement, modules will be assigned during business hours of the same day or early the next day and final sale status will then be designated to your registration.
  • Modules must be completed prior to the in-class skills session. This is not negotiable and is an OH&S requirement. If the modules are not completed, as per the Red Cross and OH&S, you will not be allowed to attend the in-class session. As all Red Cross companies must pay an upfront fee to the Red Cross to issue modules, if your modules are not completed, for which you will not be able to attend your in-class course, no accommodations will be allowed and no refunds/credits will be issued for this.

7

Refunds

Requests to cancel your registered course outside of the 10 business day window will be honored and a refund minus a 30% processing fee of your overall payment will be refunded. This charge is non-negotiable and will be the only condition upon which a refund will be honored. Merchants are charged service fees in the registration and cancellation process. Breath for Life Inc will not absorb merchant fees for a cancelled course. The balance of your payment will be refunded to you based on the payment method used and no other method will be considered.
As purchased materials are regarded as final sale, no refund will be issued for materials purchased. Materials may be picked up at your convenience within 30 days of your cancellation. You will receive an email when you have been refunded with a revised receipt.
8 Unforeseen Circumstances

If you are unable to attend your course (no-show) for whatever reason, and notify Breath for Life of your absence, on the day of the course, after the course has started and/or finished, Breath for Life will not entertain negotiations around the absence and no refunds/credits or accommodations will be permitted.

By accepting the terms and conditions of your registration, which forms a contract between you and Breath for Life, you accept that Breath for Life Inc will follow the terms and conditions of this policy even if life circumstances change.
As the public expects Breath for Life Inc to deliver the course that was paid for, regardless of any unforeseen circumstance that Breath for Life may encounter, in like manner Breath for Life expects that the registrant(s) attend their reserved course and if they cannot they accept that Breath for Life will follow the terms and conditions of the contract that was entered into. Should the registrant not attend their course, or are required to vacate their reserved seat, based on circumstances that are regarded as outside of their control or unforeseen, which are problems that should not be imposed on Breath for Life (examples include but are not exhaustive: confusion as to the start time, train holdups, inclement weather, car troubles, public transportation issues, late or cancelled flights, work related scheduling conflicts, too busy, forgetting about your course, your alarm did not go off, babysitter challenges, illness or injury, road or train inconveniences, appointment conflicts or any other circumstance, etc), policies will be followed.

9 Module Access

Breath for Life sends out a preliminary email directing students that Red Cross Modules will be issued to you within one week (within 7 days) of your course start date.  When modules have been issued, your course registration is final sale: this is non-negotiable. The Red Cross sends you an email shortly thereafter,  inviting you to set up a Red Cross Account. The Modules will be populated to ‘My Online Courses’. By activating the course modules, the expectations is that they are completed before the in-class skills session. If the modules are not completed, as per the Red Cross and OH&S, you will not be permitted to attend the in-class session. As all Red Cross companies must pay an upfront fee to the Red Cross to issue your modules, if your modules are not completed, for which you will not be able to attend your in-class course, no accommodations will be allowed and no refunds/credits will be issued for this.

The Red Cross sends out modules to the email that you provided to Breath for Life when you registered online.

    • This email must be used to set up your account. If this email is changed you might experience challenges with accessing your modules. Breath for Life will support you in resolving account issues, but as your account is controlled by the Red Cross if we cannot problem solve a resolution you will be referred to the Canadian Red Cross. This represents the greatest problem experienced by Red Cross account holders. Of importance, do not change your email when you have created or have gained access to your Red Cross account. Remember this email as it defines your account.
    • If problems are encountered when accessing your account or modules, Breath for Life is your first contact to help in the problem resolution process. If Breath for Life cannot help you, Breath for Life will either refer you to, or contact, the Canadian Red Cross on your behalf. The registrant must email a clear description of the problem encountered (screen shots are very helpful). Contacting the Red Cross directly is discouraged as they will most likely redirect you back to Breath for Life.
  • It is incumbent on you to ensure that you receive the modules from the Canadian Red Cross. Check your inbox/junk/spam folder within 24 hours of registering into the course for the Red Cross email inviting you to set up your account to access your modules. We will problem solve difficulties with you, if any are encountered, but if you leave this to the night before, for which the office is closed, you may not realize success in completing the modules.

  • It is the registrant’s responsibility to inform Breath for Life of problems encountered when accessing the Canadian Red Cross modules. The access instructions are very specific and must be followed carefully so that problems are not experienced.
9

Certification

Module completion must be completed prior to your in-class skills session. This is an OH&S and Canadian Red Cross requirement.  The Canadian Red Cross issues a certificate to your Red Cross account based on completing the course expectations.

Breath for Life will submit the course roster to the Red Cross after the completion of the Course. We are prompt and diligent in this consideration.

  • The Canadian Red Cross gives training partners up to 10 business days to submit the course roster. Breath for Life submits the course roster to the Canadian Red Cross in a timely manner – usually upon course completion.  On the rare occasion, it may take up to 72 hours for the Canadian Red Cross to populate your certificate to your account (My Profile: My Certifications) and email. Breath for Life does not have access to your certificate and it is up to the registrant to know how to access their certificate for future reference.
10 Safety To keep our school safe and clean for everyone, shoes worn outside must be removed at the door. Outside footwear is not allowed within the Breath for Life premises. Please bring a change in footwear so that you will be comfortable throughout the day. Breath for Life takes pride in delivering your course in a facility that is cleaned to a very high standard.
11 Material Items Purchased materials are final sale. You must request your purchased material at the course. If you leave purchased course material behind it will be your responsibility to arrange a pick up time. Any refund requests around forgotten material will be denied. Alternately, you may make arrangements to pick up your material or request shipment of your material at the set rate of $35.00+tax by emailing: breathforlifeinc@shaw.ca
Items left behind will be held in lost and found for no more than 2 weeks. If email  communication around the item is not received within this time frame, Breath for Life will either discard the item or donate it.
12 Respect Breath for Life has the right to work in a respectful environment. Behaviors that are regarded as unkind and disrespectful will not be tolerated. This will result in an immediate dismissal from your course without a refund, credit and/or accommodation. The expectation of respect also applies to email communications. Please communicate politely and respectfully.
Respect of Facilities: behaviors that would suggest disrespect of Breath for Life’s facility, property, equipment, etc will also not be tolerated.
